The Power of Forgiveness

In today’s episode Abigail and I finally dig into the power of forgiveness. We have been promising this episode for a few weeks now, but I kept coming up with other “more important” episodes.

The truth is, I was feeling some major resistance to talking about forgiveness so my subconscious pushed other topics to the front of the line giving me the space to process the resistance. Abigail and I touch on this resistance before we dive into the power of forgiveness.

We’ve all been there. We’ve all been hurt in relationships. Am I right? Either by another, or by ourselves, which leaves us in a position where we need to forgive. The mother-daughter relationship is no exception. With a bond like no other and so much emotion, it makes sense that there will be moments of mistakes, misunderstandings, and hurt feelings. It’s inevitable! It provides plenty of opportunity to practice forgiveness.

The path to true forgiveness is a process. One that takes time and demands that we work through emotions before we can truly reach the finish line. Oh, and it’s hard!

Like most things in life there is more than one way to skin a cat. Why is that even a saying I wonder (tangent). What I mean is while researching this subject we learned that there are several different forgiveness processes. What resonates with us is the 7 step process to true forgiveness, which is what we discuss in this power of forgiveness episode.

Join us as we share some of our experiences where forgiveness was necessary, and dive deep into why we believe forgiveness is important (hint: it’s not for the other person; it’s important for your well-being!).’

All in all, forgiveness is hard. It’s messy. It’s heavy, but it is so necessary and so powerful.
